Payne in January 2008. The workshop was provided as part of a full development program for BC Audiologists Early Hearing
Program, part of the BC Provincial Health Services. Permission was granted by the Coaching Triangle to use this poetic presentation
for promotion, testimonials, and marketing for Personal Profile International and Deberna International.
To be or not to be;.a good listener
That is the question;.an open ended question
To sit in silence
To speak a little
To listen most of the time
Friends, Romans, Coaches
Lend me you ears
I have come to be heard, not to seek your advice
And if you give me a small chance to shine,
You may find my wisdom is greater than thine
Though this be madness, yet there be method in it
Listen to the speaker only;.not that damn quacking
Off with the duck!
Stay curious, ask questions
But do not interrupt
O Romeo, O Romeo
Are you listening to me Romeo?
I cannot see your eyes
I cannot see your face
Are you listening to me Romeo?
Something is rotten in the state of coaching
I cannot hear you over this quack, quack, quack
Out damned duck
Out I say!
It is better to be silent and seek to understand
Men of few words are the best men
Listeners of few thoughts are the best listeners
Be present in the conversation
All that glitters is not gold
But silence is gold
Stop, listen, focus, reflect
What have you heard?
